Now that the above pictured wedding shawl and man scarf have arrived at their final destination, I feel safe in telling you about the scarf. The shawl was already blogged about here.
When I found out that Stonecutter SJ was getting married, I decided to knit her a shawl (with her knowledge, of course) and thought that it would be cute to knit her husband-to-be a scarf in their wedding colors, which were luckily pretty manly – navy blue and turquoise. I also thought that entrelac in mostly navy with just a shot of the turquoise here and there would probably be better for a guy than something that had the colors more evenly distributed.
Thus – a modification of Danica was born. I wanted to do smaller squares and have more of them on each tier, so I cast on 32 stitches (for four base triangles 8 stitches each). The scarf wound up easily 8″ wide and about 60″ long.
Pattern: Danica from Knitty (linked earlier)
Yarn: Malabrigo Merino Worsted (Azul Profundo, 2.5 skeins from stash), Classic Elite Minnow Merino (Turquoise, .25 skeins).
Needles: Knit Picks Options, size 8
Start Date: February 21, 2009. End Date: May 9, 2009.
Notes: Entrelac is much more interesting when you are oohing over the color changes in Noro. The end result of this one is much much softer, though.
